ST. JOHNSBURY — A 54-year-old woman was arrested for DUI in St. Johnsbury yesterday.
Police say they observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation at the intersection of US 5 and Portland Street at around 1:55 a.m.
Police followed the vehicle as it turned onto Portland Street and observed a second moving violation near the intersection of Portland Street and Weeks Court.
Police initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Kristi Houghton, of St. Johnsbury.
During the encounter, police say they observed several signs of impairment.
Police say that Houghton was operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
She was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury barracks for processing.
She was later cited to appear in court on November 13 to answer for the charge.
