BRATTLEBORO –– A 43-year-old Brattleboro man, Nathan Couture, was arrested on Tuesday, October 17, facing an array of charges including burglary, assault on law enforcement officers, and resisting arrest following a reported home invasion.
The Brattleboro Police Department received a call around 2:50 p.m. about a home invasion on Elliot St. with a knife-wielding intruder. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect had fled the scene.
Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as Couture.
Hours later, officers located Couture in an alley on Flat St. As they attempted to take him into custody, Couture resisted arrest and assaulted an officer multiple times, causing minor injuries.
The officer managed to gain control over Couture before backup arrived.
Couture was taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the arrest.
He was later transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing.
Couture’s charges include five counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of unlawful trespass, assault and robbery, disorderly conduct, unlawful mischief, resisting arrest, and impeding a public officer. He was ordered held on $50,000 bail prior to arraignment.
