NASHUA –– A Nashua man was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday night after driving the wrong way on the Falmouth Spur, according to Maine State Police.
The crash, which occurred around 8:10 p.m. on the east end of the spur ramp areas, involved two vehicles. Raymond Giard III, 54, of Nashua, was driving a Chevy Silverado east on the spur when he collided with a Honda CRV driven by Charles Jack, 49, of Poland, Maine.
Unlike other parts of the spur, the ramp areas are not divided highways, which facilitated the head-on collision.
State police pronounced Giard dead at the scene.
Jack suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.
State police, fire, and EMS all responded to the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but early indications suggest alcohol may have been a factor.
Authorities will release further details as the investigation continues.
