WHEELOCK — A Monday morning shooting in the town of Wheelock has left an adult man dead, prompting an extensive investigation by the Vermont State Police.
Shortly after 6 a.m. police received an emergency call from a woman stating an adult male had been shot on a property along Vermont Route 16 in Wheelock.
Troopers, assisted by rescue teams from Glover and Hardwick, arrived at the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.
Although the investigation is still in its initial phase, multiple units from the Vermont State Police, including the Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division, Crime Scene Search Team, and Victim Services Unit, are actively involved.
Preliminary findings suggest this was an isolated incident. Authorities have not made any arrests at this time.
The deceased’s body will be transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to undergo an autopsy, which will determine the cause and manner of death. Officials are withholding the identity of the victim until relatives are informed and the investigation progresses further.
