YORK –– A Manchester man visiting York Beach was stabbed multiple times in a sudden and unprovoked attack on Thursday, according to his son.
The victim, an elderly man, was at Short Sands Beach with his son, Eric Rhodes, when a man later identified as Daniel OrBan of Windham, Maine, got out of a Subaru, approached the victim and stabbed him.
The victim was rushed to Portsmouth Hospital where he remains in stable condition on Friday.
Rhodes said his father was stabbed in the chest and arm and received 26 stitches.
He praised the quick response and assistance of bystanders and first responders at the scene.
OrBan was arrested a short distance from the scene, sitting in his Subaru.
He was transported to the York County Jail where he is being held without bail pending a court appearance.
Despite the violent attack, the victim is expected to survive his injuries.
