CLAREMONT –– A 55-year-old Claremont man was found dead Thursday evening near the Santagate Pedestrian Bridge, according to Claremont Safety Services.
Craig Ainsworth was discovered unresponsive on the edge of a river around 5:45 p.m.
First responders were dispatched to Mill Road following reports of an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, they found Ainsworth already deceased.
Claremont Police Detectives have launched an exhaustive investigation into Ainsworth’s cause and manner of death.
However, initial details suggest there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The exact cause of death remains under investigation, but authorities confirmed there is no public safety threat.
Assisting the Claremont Police Department in the ongoing investigation are the Claremont Fire Department, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Whitefield Police Department.
