Human remains discovered in Wahconah Park, Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD –– Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found in Wahconah Park Tuesday, according to Lieutenant John Soules of the Pittsfield Police Department (PPD).

The remains were found by a city employee who was cutting brush in the park around 10:44 a.m. on October 10. The discovery was made in an area that is not part of the Wahconah Park baseball field, Soules said.

The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition and a positive identification has not yet been made.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office has accepted the case and personnel from that office have collected the remains.

At this time, there is no indication of any threat to the general public.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by members of the PPD Detective Bureau.
