SHEFFIELD — A 27-year-old woman from St. Johnsbury was arrested for DUI following a crash in Sheffield yesterday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Vermont 122 at around 9:20 p.m.

A damaged, blue 2018 Ford Focus was seen leaning against the guardrail.

The driver, Amy Bell, told police that she was traveling east when she crashed.

The vehicle drove off the road, hit a guardrail, lost a tire, ricocheted back onto the road, and traveled approximately 75 yards east before coming to a final position of controlled rest against a new section of guardrail.

During the course of the investigation, police say they found open containers of alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle and observed Bell exhibiting several signs of impairment.

Following standard field sobriety tests, Bell was found to be impaired and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

She was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing.

She was cited to appear in court on October 23 for the charges.
