MORRISVILLE –– The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a recent string of home improvement fraud cases and fraudulent check cases.
Sheriff’s officials on Monday urged those seeking contractors for work to ask for references to aid them in their hiring decisions.
They also advised residents to take time to review their bank statements to ensure all transactions were authorized.
The department is investigating several cases where checks were written and cashed fraudulently in Lamoille County.
The details of these cases remain under investigation.
