COVENTRY — A 41-year-old man from Newport was arrested following an incident in Coventry yesterday.
Police say they initiated a traffic stop for a speeding violation on US Route 5 at around 5:40 p.m.
The driver was identified as Marcel Mercy.
Police say Mercy’s license to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended and that he had active court-ordered conditions of release prohibiting him from operating a motor vehicle.
Mercy was taken into custody and transported to the Derby barracks for processing.
He was released with a citation for the charges of violation conditions of release, and operating after suspension or revocation of license.
