NEWPORT –– The Lake Champlain Antique and Classic Boat Society is set to host a rendezvous on Lake Memphremagog on Saturday, September 23. Enthusiasts and spectators alike will have the chance to experience a bit of history and nostalgia.

Participating boats, relics of classic woodwork and power reminiscent of days gone by, will set out from the Gateway Center and make their journey to the Eastside Restaurant dock. Members of the society will gather on the restaurant’s deck for lunch, offering an idyllic backdrop of classic wooden boats for diners and onlookers.

Those interested in catching a closer look at these historical vessels can do so between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Eastside dock. Following the viewing window, a parade featuring the classic boats will commence at 1:30 p.m., with the procession heading north around Province Island.

While a majority of the boats hail from various corners of Vermont, the rendezvous will also feature several boats native to Lake Memphremagog. The event promises not just a showcase of classic wooden boats, but also an opportunity for community members and boat enthusiasts to connect and share their passion for maritime history.

The society invites everyone to join and revel in the splendid collection of boats, a tangible representation of the rich legacy of wood and power from the good old days.
