DUNBARTON –– A Connecticut man wanted on multiple felony charges was arrested Friday morning after attempting to flee a traffic stop in Dunbarton.

Local police officer Scott Avedisian was conducting a routine patrol, supported by the NH Office of Highway Safety, when he attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle on Everett Dam Road.

The driver, later identified as Joshua Kunkel, 33, of Lisbon, Connecticut, failed to stop and tried to evade the officer by pulling into a private driveway.

Avedisian quickly located the vehicle and took Kunkel into custody for disobeying a police officer.

Further investigation revealed that Kunkel was a fugitive from justice with an active arrest warrant in Connecticut for multiple felony-level drug and weapons charges.

These charges include possession of narcotics with the intent to sell and criminal possession of a firearm.

After confirming extradition with Connecticut State Police, Kunkel was transported to the Merrimack County House of Corrections.

He is awaiting arraignment as a fugitive from justice, a special felony.

Additional charges from this incident include disobeying a police officer and speeding.
