COLCHESTER — A 30-year-old man from Milton was arrested following an incident in Colchester early this morning.
Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on I-89 at around 1:15 a.m.
The motorcycle briefly stopped for the trooper at exit 17 before eluding in a negligent manner continuing north on the interstate.
Troopers did not pursue the motorcycle.
Shortly after, police located the motorcycle and driver at a home in Milton.
Police say that Gabriel Wendel was operating the motorcycle at the time of the attempted traffic stop.
While speaking with Wendel, police say they detected indicators of impairment.
Wendel was arrested for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Williston barracks for processing.
At the conclusion of processing, Wendel was released with a citation to appear in court on September 21 to answer to the charge of DUI, negligent operation, and eluding from law enforcement.
