CAMPTON –– A covered bridge in town suffered significant damage after an oversized truck ignored posted height and weight limit signs, struck several wooden braces, and fled the scene on September 2, around 10:50 a.m., according to the Campton Police Department.
The operator of the truck, a budget rental with Oklahoma plates, did not stop after the incident and was last spotted traveling north on US Route 3.
Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts aided in identifying the vehicle.
Campton Police Department is urging anyone who recognizes the driver from the surveillance images or has any information about the incident to contact them at 603-726-8874.

Following the incident, the Blair Covered Bridge was temporarily closed as the Campton Highway Department worked to repair the damage.
It has since been declared safe for travel and has reopened.
