NEWPORT –– Following a burglary at Summit Exxon on John Stark Highway, both suspects have now been identified.
The Newport Police Department confirmed the breakthrough in the investigation on August 26, 2023.
Responding to a burglary alarm around 11:30 p.m., officers arrived at the scene to discover the convenience store had been burglarized.
According to initial reports, the suspects had fled into a nearby wooded area.
Thanks to public assistance and tips, the police department was able to identify the two suspects involved in the crime.
Detective Alexander R. Marvin led the investigation and expressed gratitude to those who provided vital information leading to the identification.
The police are not releasing the names of the suspects at this time. Further information about the suspects and possible charges will be shared as the investigation progresses.
