CHESTERFIELD –– A single-vehicle accident on Saturday evening has left a Manchester man with serious injuries.
At approximately 6:20 p.m. on August 26, local authorities and emergency services responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Route 9A for a crash involving a silver Ford Sedan.
According to the Chesterfield Police Department, the vehicle was traveling west on Route 9 near the intersection when it went over an embankment and struck a tree.
The male driver, whose name has not been released, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire department personnel. He was subsequently airlifted to U Mass Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
Chesterfield Police Department, Chesterfield Fire Rescue, Spofford Fire Rescue, Keene Fire Rescue and Rescue Inc. all responded to the scene.
