MONTPELIER –– A third individual has been charged in connection with a 2021 drug overdose death, according to the Montpelier Police Department.
On Sept. 21, 2021, police investigated the overdose which occurred on Northfield Street.
Renee Guy, 30, of Williamstown, and Cindy Abbott, 52, of Barre, were initially charged with the distribution of narcotics that led to the death.
Both women recently pleaded guilty in court.
Through ongoing investigations, charges have now been filed against Sumner Goodell, 28, of Berlin, for the distribution of narcotics with death resulting.
Goodell admitted to assisting the decedent in procuring the narcotics the day before the overdose.
Goodell, who is already incarcerated for unrelated charges, is due to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division at a later date to answer to this charge.
