PETERBOROUGH –– Police apprehended three individuals Wednesday who were involved in a high-speed chase and attempted fraudulent currency exchange in Jaffrey.
The Peterborough Police Department identified the suspects as Dereck Calva Castillo, 18, from New Haven, Connecticut; Richard Williams, 26, from Bridgeport, Connecticut, who was also the driver; and Alannah Suarez, 20, from Meriden, Connecticut.
At approximately 5:00 PM on August 23, 2023, police were alerted to be on the lookout for a gray SUV with a New Jersey license plate. Patrolmen located the vehicle on Jaffrey Road at the Route 101 lights. The vehicle immediately sped off, heading westbound on Route 101 (Dublin Road).
The chase ended when the suspect vehicle was involved in a three-car collision at Route 101 and Union Street.
Multiple suspects fled the scene on foot, leaving the driver, who was transported to the hospital for an existing leg injury evaluation. No injuries were reported in relation to the collision.
With the assistance of a K9 unit and officers from Greenfield and Jaffrey, police tracked the suspects to the Rockbrook Apartments at 475 Union Street. Despite losing the scent, officers continued their patrol in the area.
Around 7:40 PM, a resident of the Rockbrook Apartments reported that two of the suspects were in her apartment. Police, along with K9 Queso, entered the apartment after no one responded to their commands to exit. Both suspects were found in a closet and taken into custody without incident.
All three suspects were transported to the Valley Street Jail to await arraignment on various charges.
The Peterborough Police Department was assisted by Dublin, Greenfield, Hancock, Jaffrey, Peterborough Fire & Rescue, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Secret Service.
