BRATTLEBORO — A local man was arrested by Brattleboro Police in connection with a series of vehicle thefts and break-ins this week.
The suspect, 39-year-old Schuyler D. Gibson of Brattleboro, is facing multiple charges.
According to Lieutenant Adam Petlock, the series of events began on August 8 when police investigated a theft from a vehicle on Oak Street.
Gibson was identified as a suspect and found in possession of an item stolen from the vehicle, as well as a stolen credit card.
He was issued court-ordered conditions of release and a citation ordering him to appear in Windham County Superior Court the following day.
On August 9, at 12:21 p.m., officers received a report of a stolen vehicle from an address on Harris Place.
The vehicle was later recovered nearby with the paperwork issued to Gibson at his prior arrest found inside, but Gibson was not located at that time.
The following day, officers received a report of a subject attempting to break into vehicles downtown.
Gibson was located in the area and matched the description provided of the suspect. He was taken into custody related to the aforementioned cases and was also the subject of an active Vermont arrest warrant.
Gibson was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where he was lodged in lieu of bail.
