POWNAL — A 53-year-old man from Massachusetts was arrested for his fourth DUI following an incident in Pownal yesterday.
Authorities say they were notified of a red Jeep that was racing up and down the road in the area of Sunflower Street at around 9:40 p.m.
Another caller told police that the Jeep had hit something and left the park.
Police say they located the vehicle at Stewarts and identified the driver as Louin P. Norton, of North Adams.
They say they observed several indicators of impairment and arrested Norton for suspicion of DUI and criminal DLS.
Norton was transported to the Shaftsbury barracks for processing and released with a citation to appear in court to answer to the charges of DUI #4 and criminal DLS.
