HAMPTON –– Police and fire officials recovered a body from the Hampton River early Wednesday morning, believed to be a missing fisherman.
The Hampton Police Department received a 911 call around 7:30 a.m. on August 9, reporting a possible body in the river.
Both police and fire departments responded to the scene by boat, where they located the body of a male victim.
The victim was found dressed in fishing attire, leading officials to believe he may have been fishing off the Hampton jetty before his death.
The New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol is currently working with the Hampton Police Department to positively identify the victim and notify his next of kin.
Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in the ongoing investigation.
