Manchester man arrested for driving with suspended license, providing false information

CAMBRIDGE –– A 48-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on Tuesday for driving with a criminally suspended license and providing false information to police.

Joseph Hughes was pulled over by troopers from the Williston Barracks on Route 15 at Route 104 in Cambridge after they noticed him talking on his cellphone while driving.

During the stop, Hughes initially provided a false name to the trooper multiple times.

However, through further investigation, troopers were able to identify him correctly.

Hughes was found to have a criminally suspended driver’s license.

Hughes was arrested without incident and taken to the Lamoille County Sheriffs Department for processing.

He was later released with a citation ordering him to appear in court at a later date.

In addition to his arrest, Hughes was issued a traffic ticket for talking on his cellphone while driving, a violation of Title 23 section 1095, which carries a fine of $162 and two points.
