SALISBURY — A 56-year-old man from Leicester was arrested for DUI following an incident in Salisbury yesterday.
Police say they initiated a traffic stop after an observed motor vehicle violation on US Route 7, near the intersection of Pomainville Drive, at around 10:15 p.m.
The driver was identified as Dean Newton.
While speaking to Newton, police say they observed indicators of impairment and Newton was screened for DUI.
Newton was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
He was transported to the Vergennes Police Department for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert and processing.
He was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
Troopers were assisted by members of the Vergennes Police Department.
