Sights and Tastes of Memphremagog: Newport welcomes new tool to drive local business

NEWPORT — In an exciting development for the Lake Memphremagog region, a binational team from Quebec and Vermont has unveiled the “Sights and Tastes of Memphremagog” Cross-Border Adventure Map. The product of nine months of collaboration, the map highlights farmers markets, local producers, and sightseeing opportunities on both sides of the US-Canada border and around the beautiful Lake Memphremagog.

The unveiling event took place on The Northern Star, and included residents, business owners, and officials from local and regional levels on both sides of the border. The event marked a significant milestone in cross-border cooperation and signals a promising future for further collaboration.

The adventure map is available in both French and English versions, catering to the diverse linguistic communities in the region. Copies in English will be available at various locations in Newport, including the Welcome Center, the City Dock, on The Northern Star, and at the local Farmers Market.

With this map, Newport City Downtown Development Director Rick Ufford-Chase says he hopes to see it foster greater connection between our communities and drive local business, all while showcasing the beautiful landscapes and produce of the Memphremagog region.
