SHELDON –– A local man was taken into custody yesterday evening after police responded to a domestic disturbance and found evidence of assault committed in the presence of a child.
Joey R. Vaillancourt, 46, is facing charges after troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks arrived at a Sheldon residence around 8:20 p.m.
Their investigation concluded that Vaillancourt had committed domestic assault.
Following his arrest, Vaillancourt was transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing.
In accordance with their policy, the Vermont State Police have not released the name or personal details of the victim involved in the domestic violence incident.
The presence of a child at the scene of the crime has led to additional charges for Vaillancourt, although the child’s identity and relationship to the accused and victim have also not been disclosed.
