BENNINGTON — Emergency services in Bennington were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident near Harris’s store on Route 202, at approximately 3:56 p.m. yesterday.
Initial reports suggested a two-vehicle head-on crash, but this was later corrected to a single vehicle incident involving a collision with a tree.
Fire-Rescue teams from Bennington, along with personnel from Antrim Fire & Ambulance and Bennington NH Emergency Management, worked diligently to extricate the patient from the unstable vehicle. Following extraction, emergency medical services (EMS) evaluated the patient on scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further examination.
A trauma alert activation was requested en route to the hospital due to the severity of the patient’s injuries.
During the incident, a section of Route 202 was closed down, necessitating detours to be put in place.
Local police departments from Hancock, Greenfield, and Antrim helped to manage and redirect traffic around the crash site.
The vehicle involved in the crash was recovered by Mike’s Towing & Recovery.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
