BARTON — A single-vehicle crash during a rainy evening on Interstate 91 resulted in one fatality, according to the Vermont State Police.
The incident took place yesterday at around 9:30 p.m. in Barton.
The driver, identified as Derick Ward, 39, of Newport, was found dead at the scene after his 2017 Ford Superduty Utility truck had veered into the wooded median and sustained major damage.
Members of the Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident.
The wet road conditions due to rain are a factor being considered in the ongoing investigation.
The Orleans Fire Department, Orleans Ambulance Service, Orleans County Sheriff’s Department and B&B Towing all responded to the scene.
