COLCHESTER — A bomb threat at the Colchester Middle School led to an early dismissal of students today, according to local police.
The Colchester Police Department received the bomb threat at approximately 12:49 p.m., prompting an immediate response from both police and fire personnel.
Upon consultation with school officials, it was decided that students should be dismissed for the remainder of the day.
The dismissal, which occurred on the last day of classes, was conducted in a safe and orderly manner, police said.
Mountain Transit was alerted to assist in transportation, and parents were notified to collect their children. The school building was subsequently evacuated and cleared by emergency personnel.
Investigations into the bomb threat are ongoing.
