NEWPORT — The Four Seasons Garden Club convened on the shores of Lake Memphremagog for their annual meeting at the Belvedere Restaurant in Newport last month.
The event saw the induction of new club officers for the year, conducted by Margery Salmon, Co-President of the Federated Garden Clubs of Vermont. Caroline Bailey was installed as President, Jean Holcomb and Suzanne Dunn as Co-Treasurers, and Marvelene Richards as Secretary.
Members engaged in spirited discussions and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch courtesy of the Belvedere Restaurant. The agenda included the review of annual reports from committee chairs and planning for a series of upcoming events.
The Four Seasons Garden Club is set for an active year, contributing to the beautification and upkeep of flower gardens at North Country Hospital and The Old Stone House in Brownington. The club will also be working at The Bluffside Farm in Newport and participating in the Art In Bloom event at the MAC Center for the Arts in July.
In addition to these activities, the club will continue its tradition of providing educational presentations to local schools. They can be easily identified in their new sky-blue club shirts while working in the gardens.
