WEARE — An ATV rollover accident on Friday evening in Weare has left a man with a head injury.
The crash took place on Oak Ridge Road and resulted in the injury of Timothy Hayes of Weare.
Weare Police, Fire, EMS, and a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded to the accident.
Upon arriving at 8:00 p.m., they found Hayes, 40, initially unconscious with head injuries. He was then transported to Concord Hospital by ambulance.
Conservation Officer Shawn MacFadzen reported that Hayes was also suffering from a laceration.
The investigation revealed that the accident occurred while Hayes was attempting to turn on the ATV, causing it to roll over on Oak Ridge Road, a route not open to Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles (OHRV).
The Weare Police Department is leading the Driving While Intoxicated investigation, with speed and alcohol believed to be the primary contributing factors to the crash.
In the aftermath of the accident, New Hampshire Fish and Game officials issued a reminder to riders to operate machines in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, to avoid operating on roads unless specifically allowed, to wear a helmet while riding, and to abstain from drinking and riding
