NEWPORT — A 49-year-old inmate was cited following an incident in Newport on earlier this month.
Authorities say they were notified of an assault allegation made against staff members at the Northern State Correctional Facility at around 11:35 a.m.
Shan McGlynn, an inmate at the facility, reported having been assaulted by a Vermont Department of Corrections officer.
Police say he provided a sworn statement about the incident.
An investigation into the reported assault was conducted.
Police say that no assault had occurred.
McGlynn was cited for false swearing and false reports to law enforcement.
