Merrimack man arrested on multiple charges after CVS robbery in Nashua

NASHUA — A New Hampshire man has been arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping, possession of a controlled drug, and resisting detention/arrest, according to the Nashua Police Department.

Shane Hirth, 33, of Merrimack, was arrested on Monday after detectives investigating a robbery at a CVS on Main Street saw him in the area of East Hollis Street.

Hirth was a potential suspect in the robbery, which occurred during the early morning hours.

When detectives attempted to stop Hirth, he fled and barricaded himself inside Budget Rent-a-Car located at 94 East Hollis Street.

There was one employee within the business at the time Hirth entered the building. Detectives and patrol officers were able to enter the building and safely remove the employee.

They continued to negotiate with Hirth and eventually took him into custody.

Hirth was transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for a medical evaluation, where he was found to be uninjured.

He is being held on preventative detention and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Hillsborough Superior Court-South on April 24.
