SPRINGFIELD — A 27-year-old inmate at Southern State Correctional Facility was cited for assault of a correctional officer.
Authorities say they were notified that Korbyn Bacon, of Springfield, physically assaulted a correctional officer by striking him with an object and striking him in the face, while at Southern State Correctional Facility.
Correctional Officer Derek Bancroft, 36, received minor injuries as a result.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Bacon was issued a citation to appear in court on May 9 for the charge.
He remains incarcerated.
