LYNDON — A 27-year-old man from West Burke was arrested following an incident in Lyndon on Friday.
Police say they initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation on Depot Street at around 9:05 p.m.
Police say they observed several signs of impairment on the driver, identified as Robert Maximov.
After sobriety tests were concluded, Maximov was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
Police say he resisted arrest.
When Maximov was in custody, he caused significant damage to the doors and cage.
While still in handcuffs, he eventually broke into the trunk of the cruiser during transport.
Maximov had to be removed and placed in a different cruiser while continuing to resist arrest.
Following an investigation, police say that Maximov had a criminally suspended license, and court conditions to not consume alcohol or drugs.
At the St. Johnsbury barracks, he refused to provide a breath test.
He was charged with DUI #2, resisting arrest, violation of conditions of release, unlawful mischief, and criminal DLS.
Maximov was held at the Northeast Regional Correction Complex until sober.
