Two-car crash in Ripton results in serious injury

RIPTON – A two-car crash in Ripton today resulted in serious injuries for one driver and significant damage to both vehicles involved.

According to the Vermont State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on VT RT 125.

Troopers arrived on the scene to find two vehicles with heavy front-end damage in the east and westbound lanes of travel.

Initial investigation revealed that Peter Nichols, 77, was driving east in a 2020 Chevrolet Trax when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2015 Subaru Outback driven by Bruce Perlow, 46, who was traveling west.

Nichols sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

Perlow did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

Troopers were assisted by Middlebury Rescue and the Ripton Fire Department.

The road was closed for approximately two hours for scene processing.
