Man arrested for maiming someone who gave him a ride in Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM – Vermont State Police have arrested Christopher Vanacore, 40, of Rockingham today.

He was charged for aggravated assault and maiming after he physically assaulted Gerald Jenisch, 51, also of Rockingham, on US Route 5.

According to the police report, Jenisch was driving south on US Route 5 when he stopped to provide a ride to Vanacore, who was walking.

Shortly after accepting the ride, a verbal disagreement started inside the vehicle.

Vanacore physically assaulted Jenisch, causing significant, non-life-threatening injuries to his head.

Jenisch was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Vanacore was found walking in the area and was arrested without incident with the assistance of the Bellows Falls Police Department.

He was ordered to be held without bail until his court appearance on March 23, 2023.

Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation on in the area of the Joy Wah restaurant is asked to contact police.
