Richford man arrested for threatening with firearm in presence of a child

RICHFORD – Vermont State Police responded to a 911 call reporting a potential assault in progress in Richford on Friday night.

Upon arrival, they discovered that Dennis Reidy II, 28, had physically assaulted a household member and threatened their life with a firearm in the presence of a juvenile child.

Reidy was taken into custody and processed at the St. Albans State Police Barracks.

The victim, whose name was not released by authorities, filed a restraining order against Reidy, which was immediately served.

Reidy was issued a flash citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court for charges of domestic assault, criminal threatening, and committing an offense in the presence of a child.

The Vermont State Police does not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.

The victim, a 25-year-old resident of Richford, was reportedly unharmed in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Vermont State Police.
