School bus involved in crash in Richmond

RICHMOND — A two-vehicle crash occurred in the town of Richmond this morning.

The incident took place at around 7:44 a.m. on Cochran Road, near Cochran Way.

Upon arrival, authorities found a Toyota Camry, driven by 20-year-old Macauley Bernier of Richmond, facing east on Cochran Road.

The second vehicle, a school bus operated by 60-year-old Cris Cote of Essex Town, was found facing west on Cochran Road.

Further investigation revealed that Bernier lost control while driving east and sideswiped the school bus, which was traveling west.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the drivers or students aboard the bus.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and there were no signs of impairment.

Although disabling damage was done to both vehicles, no hospitalization was necessary.

The vehicles were removed from the scene by Black Fork Towing and Rick’s Towing.

The weather conditions at the time of the crash were snowy, and the road conditions were slushy.

No charges have been filed at this time.
