RUTLAND — A 48-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Rutland early this morning.
Police say they initiated a traffic stop for an observed motor vehicle violation on Dorr Drive at around 12:25 a.m.
While speaking with the driver, identified as Paul Valente, of Rutland, police say they observed signs of impairment.
Valente was also found to be operating the vehicle without the required interlock device and was placed under arrest for DLS.
A search of Valente’s person yielded suspected cocaine.
He refused Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was transported to the Vermont State Police Rutland barracks for processing.
He was released on a citation to appear in court to answer to the charges of possession of cocaine, DUI #5 (drug), and DLS.
