COLCHESTER — Police are investigating a shooting incident that took place in Colchester on Wednesday.
Colchester Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting a fight and “loud bang” from an apartment on Holy Cross Road at around 9:45 p.m.
Responding officers located a man and a woman deceased in the apartment from apparent gunshot wounds.
There are no indications of a further threat to public safety, police say.
State Police Crime Scene Search Team has been contacted and will be working with Colchester Police to process evidence at the scene.
Police say the investigation into this incident is in its early stages.
Identification of the deceased and cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Police say the shooting on Holy Cross Road is being investigated as a murder/suicide.
Initial findings indicate that the man shot the woman then turned the weapon on himself.
A minor child was in the unit at the time of the shooting.
That child is now in the care of relatives, police say.
