MONTPELIER — A 26-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident in Montpelier last week.
Authorities say they were notified of a call from a resident on Taylor Street that there were homeless people engaged in a verbal altercation and they were yelling that they were going to kill one another at around 6:30 p.m.
Police then received a call from a transient man advising that Michael Markham, a transient, had followed him with a knife from the bus stop at the Transit Center to the bridge that leads to Shaws Supermarket.
Police met with the victim and investigated.
During the investigation, it was found that Markham had committed the offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Markham was arrested and was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Center due to lack of $1,000 bail.
