Ice flys off vehicle causing crash with injuries in Sunderland

SUNDERLAND — Police are looking for the driver who left the scene of a crash with injuries in Sunderland today.

The single-vehicle crash took place on US Route 7, near mile marker 22.8.

According to the report, a vehicle lost control and collided into a tree.

The driver was identified as Charles P. Pace, 54, of Manchester.

Upon arrival to the collision, police say they were notified by several witnesses at the scene that a white Ford Sprinter van with an unknown VT registration was traveling south in front of Pace and had ice/snow come off the top of the vehicle, ultimately flying into Pace’s windshield.

It was reported the white Ford Sprinter Van continued to travel south and did not return to the scene.

Police say there was no collision between the two vehicles, but the second vehicle left the scene.

The second driver is unknown at this time, but troopers would like to speak with the second driver about the incident.

State Police was assisted by the Arlington Rescue Squad, Arlington Fire Department, and Southern Vermont Auto.
