SOUTH BURLINGTON — A 23-year-old man from Essex was arrested following an incident in South Burlington yesterday.
Police say they initiated a traffic stop after observing a speeding violation on I-89 south at around 10:50 p.m.
The driver was identified as Nicholas Preston.
Police say Preston was found to be operating the vehicle with a criminally suspended license.
While speaking with him, police say they observed several indicators of impairment on a substance other than alcohol.
Preston was arrested for the suspicion of DUI – drugs and transported to the Williston barracks where he participated in an evaluation with a Drug Recognition Expert.
At the conclusion of processing, Preston was issued a citation to appear in court on April 4 to answer to the charge of DUI #1 and criminal DLS.
