DUI after driver intentionally scrapes truck against vehicle in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — A 22-year-old man from Lyndon was arrested for DUI following an incident in St. Johnsbury early this morning.

Authorities say they were notified of a vehicle operating erratically on Avenue A at around 12:10 a.m.

The caller told police that the driver, identified as Andrew Baird, was causing a disturbance and scraping his truck alongside the passenger side of the caller’s vehicle.

Police say the damage caused was estimated at around $1,000.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks located the vehicle of interest at the Colonnade Inn in Lyndon.

Police say they met with the driver, who was identified as Baird.

They say they detected several signs of impairment.

Baird was screened for driving under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing and released on a citation to appear in court on February 27 for several criminal charges.
