ROCHESTER — A 31-year-old man from New Hampshire was arrested for the murder of a man in Berwick, Maine on Thursday.
Authorities were called to a home where they found 37-year-old Mark Forest shot in the head.
Forest was transported to Wentworth-Douglas Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say an autopsy was conducted on Friday morning, where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New Hampshire ruled the death a homicide.
On Thursday, the day of the shooting, state police detectives, worked with Rochester, New Hampshire Police, and Berwick Maine Police throughout the morning conducting interviews in Maine and New Hampshire.
Detectives learned that Daniel Lafrenier of Rochester, New Hampshire, was a person of interest in this case and an attempt to locate was communicated to local agencies.
The York Police Department received a complaint of a subject forcing entry into a home on the York Road and responded to find Daniel Lafrenier attempting to gain entry into the home.
Lafrenier was transported to the York Police Department for an interview and was later charged with the murder of Mark Forest.
He was transported to the York County Jail and will be held without bail until his initial court appearance today.
