ST. ALBANS — Police say a 21-year-old South Burlington man is being charged with attempted murder.
Mbyayenge Mafuta, who remains in custody on unrelated charges at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans, received the citation this afternoon.
The incident involved two inmates at the Northwest State Correctional Facility back in December.
An altercation occurred in a cell occupied by Jeffrey Hall, 55, and Mafuta.
Hall suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Mafuta was uninjured.
Hall was in critical condition at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington last week.
