MONTPELIER — A 28-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges in Montpelier last week.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Taylor Street at around 9:50 p.m. on January 5.

The driver was determined to have court-ordered conditions of release establishing a curfew at his home.

Police say there were also indicators of illicit drug use observed.

A Vermont State Police K9 team was called to the scene and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics within the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized and a search warrant applied for and granted.

The execution of the warrant resulted in the discovery of a significant amount of illegal drugs and paraphernalia that indicated it was being packaged for sale.

Stolen property, including multiple credit cards belonging to others, was also located.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Philip Mensah from Montpelier.

He was arrested for violation of conditions of release, cocaine possession, depressant/stimulant/narcotic possession, sale of cocaine, and illegal possession of credit cards.
