Pedestrian struck and killed in Coos County

GORHAM — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Gorham, New Hampshire on Saturday.

The incident took place on Main Street, near J’s Corner Restaurant, at around 5:10 p.m.

Police say two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle driving east on Main Street.

A man and a woman sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

The woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Police say the couple crossed Main Street near J’s Corner at or near the crosswalk, walking south across the street.

Police say the accident is currently under investigation, and it does not appear that speed, impairment, or distraction were factors contributing to the collision.

It is believed that weather and low visibility were factors in the accident.
