ATV rider charged after clocked doing 73 mph through Eden

EDEN — A 31-year-old man was cited for excessive speeding in Eden on Friday.

Police say they were conducting a high visibility speed enforcement patrol on North Road at around 7:00 p.m.

At this time, a trooper conducted a motor vehicle stop on an ATV after observing it traveling at 73 miles-per-hour in a clearly posted 35 miles-per-hour zone.

This is 38 miles-per-hour over the posted speed limit.

The driver, identified as Phillip Whittemore, of Eden, was issued a criminal citation to answer the charge in court at a later date and time.
