DERBY — An 18-year-old driver was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Derby on December 23.
The crash took place on Derby Pond Road at around 8:40 p.m.
According to the report, the young driver was traveling east when he encountered downed lines in the road.
While attempting to avoid the hazard the vehicle struck a roadside tree.
The passenger struck the windshield resulting in a minor injury.
The severe weather conditions and hazards in the road are all believed to be factors in this crash.
The driver was transported to North Country Hospital by Newport Ambulance.
